If Darrel Hart wants O'Connor, they will have to give plenty for a State rep, ex-AFL player and Magarey Medallist/Club champion.
They haven't got even as much money as Port at the moment, wouldn't give us Hargreaves I suspect, so what can they offer?

I'm more concerned about why we don't want Ryan. Does anyone actually know what that was all about?

I didn't think they have to give anything for him. Rhino was sacked! I'm sure that makes him free to go where he pleases.
Not sure of the reasons. Heard a few things, to do with discipline or clashes but nothing confirmed.

Bec xxx From what I've been told it is for continually not following team directions and a few dummy spits by the player behind closed doors............ I wonder how far away Rhino was from Stephen when the phone was thrown..........

According to the Advertiser today:
Retired Power defender Darren Mead says he will not play on with the Port Adelaide Magpies next season and Ryan O'Connor is expected to join South Adelaide.
Shame about Meady! I think he still has something to offer the Magpies.

The fact that a player is not contracted to a club, either by his decision or the club's, merely means that if he transfers to another club, that club does not have to pay out his contract first.
If he was EVER registered, as I understand it, even as a junior, with a certain club, he must gain a transfer from his original club. If he plays for another local SA club, his transfer fee is set by the SANFL Player Permit Tribunal, which allocates points for milestones ie. games played, State representation, AFL playing days, club B&F awards, Magarey Medals, etc which ultimately equates to money. Thus, Rhino would probably command a transfer fee of $30,000 plus. The alternative is for clubs to agree on a lower fee or a player swap to effect the transfer.
Not sure what South could offer us, though. Maybe a couple of younger players in return. AFL listed players may never play too much for the SANFL side, such as Brogan or Murray (South wouldn't swap them anyway).

I'm sure there will still be some involvement with the Magpies in some capacity....... Meady - a true Port Adelaide Legend
