I have been offered an unofficial Port Adelaide message board to moderate. It will be set up similar to BigFooty but with more features, so there would be interaction between supporters of other teams if they choose to visit the Port Adelaide message board. It will have a banner ad on the pages, but not the pop-ups which I have found to be getting worse here at ProBoards. The ads used to refresh in the one window, but now sometimes I find three or more opening.
I will leave the decision up to you guys seeing as you are the ones who are using it. It would mean having to sign up all over again. Vote and let me know, also feel free to post your comments. BTW it's anticipated that this site where the message boards will be hosted will eventually also have content other than message boards, eg news and articles. My site (unless something better comes up) will still remain as is, I would just be linking to the new message boards. I would leave the old messages here as an archive for reading only.

Im not bothered either way as I don't see any ads or pop ups because I use AdSubtract Pro pop-up and ad blocker, could be the easiest option. You can download it here. www.adsubtract.com

I use a pop-up blocker myself, but I turned it off recently to see what's happening here and found that they have more than just the one ad page opening now. So far it seems more towards staying at this board. This new message board will go ahead anyway, with or without me.

I am more than happy as it is. But if the new one was set out as well and as easy to use as here, I say go for it because it would better than going up against another unofficial Port Adelaide message board.

Maybe I should just accept the offer to be moderator and promote it. Then you guys can check it out and if you like it you can sign up, and if any want to stay here and keep using this one they can. I am not bothered at all about competition. It wouldn't bother me if only 5 people use this message board. It's not the quantity of members but the quality that is important.

The pop-ups were okay when I started coming here, but now some ads open up in their own boxes despite already being open, and it's not like I'm interested in them anyway. Then came the advent of the ad at the top of the board, which is fine but you're seriously bombarded with advertising 'cos there's ads at the bottom of the pae as well! If you're surfing two of three sites at the same time it can get incredibly confusing, especially if they all come up with their own ads like Angelfire and Tripod sites. Also has a tendency to crash computer. I don't use a Pop-up blocker, not because I don't know about them, but because sometimes they tend to block access to sites that have important pop-ups, like the PM alert windows that pop up when you sign in to a message board or an ftp password prompt.

The ads have been getting worse. I will support your new board.

I've just been talking to the person who is doing the site. He will be uploading it next week and I will get to have a sneak preview. I told him I will moderate the board. A lot of planning has gone into the site and he knows what he is doing and has a lot of experience in marketing so I expect it could well take some disgruntled people away from the official afl site. When it's ready to be viewed I'll let you all know and you can check it out. I'll leave this message board here for now but will encourage people to move over to the new one. It will be much better without those pop-ups.

Ok! This new site I was telling you about is up and running now. The message boards have been added and you can start registering now if you like. If you get in early your favourite nicks will be available. The site is footyonline.com This message board will still stay here as long as people want to keep posting, but if you feel you want to use the new one I don't have any problem with that. Go for it! When I registered my nick it took over half an hour to get my password sent to me, so don't worry if you don't get it sent to you right away.
