On the afl website I see the afl is giving Geelong 2 million to upgrade Kardinia Park. (most probably the money it took away from the SANFL). Worse still Geelong are putting a levy of $1.50 on all tickets. It is already the most expensive ground to go to in the afl. Not happy Jan..... As we go there this year.

That bomb shelter cost us 3x more to attend than Colonial last time we went. If they want more money, Geelong should LOWER ticket prices to get more people there. The average age at the ground for our game was about 65 (not kidding) and our kids were about the only ones there-families can't afford to go. There is absolutely NO justification in handing over this money, if the club goes broke in 3 years as they still have no crowds.
We'll go again next season to support Port, but the only pleasure we'll get is kicking their sorry butts-again! At a cost of over $110 last season just for the seats (we already had our admission paid), no wonder the locals desert them in droves. Reckon their VFL side gets bigger crowds.
When will the AFL finally get some "working class' people on the Commission instead of these wealthy buggers who have no idea what's it's like to have a family budget??

I have not been to a live game to see Power play. Travel, tickets accomodation and time off work do not do well for the budget. Next year I have two away at uni so I am going to be running three households as they have to go to the big smoke, and the govt dont help us country people with lots of handouts.
The AFL have too realise that some families are slogging it out and barely make ends meet. I would like to live on the player pay cuts by the sound of them.
Footy used to be entertainment for the people, am I showing my age.
Shame on you AFL

The afl or state government should put a ban on levies which clubs or stadiums put on match day tickets. After all they build these bigger grounds to get more in, so they can still make more money. Or in Geelongs case, I think they are also building new changerooms. Why should we pay for that?
Come on AFL, ban levies NOW.

And Geelong can't fill the ground now because tickets are too expensive. You'd expect that they'll increase ticket prices even more when the new facilities are built. So in theory, even LESS people will go. I see another Optus Oval "legends stand" debacle coming........
Who's running the AFL-Homer Simpson?
Nothing is ever what it seems any more-there are extra levies and taxes on everything...

Oh, and I forgot to mention, there is a state election in Vic soon. Steve Bracks is a Cats man, and Geelong is a Very marginal seat. You reckon there was some political pressure applied here?? Just wondering...

Another thing needed to be looked at is booking fees. A 5 day ticket to the cricket they charge a booking fee for each day, even though you only book once. Just like a family ticket to the footy, they charge a fee for each person in the family. Its a bloody disgrace.

Have to agree that geelong pretty much sucks as an afl ground. You pay so much money to get in and most of the time your cheapest option is to stand where at other grounds you could at least stand. The ground is slowerly improving it was a shocker beofre their first upgrades there are more upgrades planned and hopefully this will bring it up to date with other grounds because its needs it asap.
